As the series adapts content from the manga, games, and light novels, collective knowledge of all three is required to properly understand what is going on. This makes it so that if someone just jumps right into the anime, they'll find themselves utterly confused at a certain point. However, this is something to be expected since Danganronpa's anime adapted over 20+ hours of gameplay into barely three seasons. This made the show less enjoyable and more confusing. A lot of aspects that made Danganronpa spectacular, i.e., its intensive character development, were either rushed or wholly overlooked in the anime. Unfortunately, even though the series is growing in popularity thanks to these new mediums, fans are not happy with the quality.
